The Anti-Red Campaign in Canton on Good Friday was much applauded by merchants and the general public, but certa in classes are still not satisfied that the action taken here was not so thorough as that teken in Swatow on the 17th, where all labour unions were sealed end closed. Although the red labour pickets have been disarmed and some 2,000 suspects arrested and detained, the Canton-Hong Kong Strike Committee and the notorious Labour Delegation Union are yet allowed to reorganise and continue to function. The Department of Labour and Peasantry has issued a proclamation re-assuring genuine workers and peasants that they will not be interfered with and their unions

The Canton will be given due protection by the Government. Mechanics' Union is a well-known anti-Red organisation and did a great deal this time in assisting the government troops in disarming the railwaymen. As the majority of the Yueh-Hen and Samshui railway workers have run away, the Government has now instructed the members of the Mechanics' Union to undertake the operation of these two lines and also that of the Canton-Kowloon
